Overview
The Senior International Operations Agent – Export is responsible for coordinating the day‑to‑day export of international freight forwarding shipments into and out of the EU across all modes of international transportation based upon customer requests. He/she will provide special expertise in international air operations and support the supervisor in the day to day coordination of work within the Ship Spares Logistics product line.
Responsibilities
- Work with customers to qualify their shipping requirements and obtain all details (regulations, certificates, documentation) necessary for shipment quotation and operating in order to ensure the customer’s request is satisfied.
- Prepare profitable quotations accurately.
- Set shipping schedules and communicate with customers, deliverers, and ports to verify loading, departures, and arrivals in a timely manner.
- Coordinate the day‑to‑day export of products, including reviewing orders and documents.
- Track and communicate all delays, damages, problems and work to resolve customer issues.
- Responsible for all aspects of air and/or road international operations such as customer service, data entry of shipments, operations and billing.
- Manage all aspects of tracking shipments to ensure shipment is moving as scheduled and update system immediately upon verification. Identify and rectify if a shipment has deviated from its schedule.
- Coordinate recovery/delivery schedules with various cartage agents and international partners.
- Partner with local sales teams to communicate problems to customers, international partners, and other stations, as needed.
- Ensure all customers’ SOP instructions are adhered to and AIT KPIs and guidelines are followed and met.
- Ensure all shipments are properly billed within company guidelines and timelines.
- Process and comply with all requirements listed by regulatory agencies.
- Network with corresponding departments to ensure files are billed and posted prior to end of month.
- Continuous learning through required compliance training and certifications of software and/or regulations.
- Other duties and responsibilities will be assigned as business demands deem necessary.
- Execute all Dangerous Goods shipments in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (as applicable).
- Contribute actively to a healthy and secure work environment by reporting unsafe / unsecure / unhealthy conditions and possible improvements.
- Support Supervisor in day to day coordination of work, first line support with escalations, training and guiding the team.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent
- Min. 5 years experience within freight forwarding within air freight
- Must be able to perform in a fast pace / high volume work environment
- Attention to detail
- Problem solving
- Solid interpersonal and planning skills.
- Fluent oral and written English is a must
- Additional major European languages would be an asset
- Strong PC skills (Windows, Microsoft Office applications) preferred
- Cargo Wise Software experience a plus
- ITAR, Dangerous Goods or TSA work experience / regulations
